Weird Scripture
Current mood:  amused

So this morning, I was reading/listening (I have the Bible on CD, which I read along with.  It helps me pay better attention!!! Get off my back about it!) to the book of Exodus, and I came upon this passage of scripture:

Ex 4:24-26
At a lodging place on the way, the LORD met [Moses] and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched [Moses’] feet with it. “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said.  So the LORD let him alone. (At that time she said “bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.) NIV

Here is the back ground on the scripture if you don’t want to look it up.  God had just spoken to Moses, about telling Pharaoh to let His people go.  God gave Mo the signs (the leprosy, and rod turning into a snake), told him what to say, and even gave Mo permission to let Aaron speak for him.  After sometime passes (no idea how much), God speaks again to Mo and says that those who wanted to kill him are dead now.  It is safe for you return to Egypt.  Mo loads his family up and heads back.  Zipporah is Mo’s wife, so the son, whom she performs the delicate operation on is his son as well.

The reason for this blog is the intense “Y” question.  (Where to begin?) Why was the Lord about to kill Mo? Why did Zipporah then circumcise her son?  Why did that cause the Lord to change His mind about killing Moses?  Why on earth, did she touch Moses feet with their son’s removed foreskin?
