Coming up this month in Kids Church is the virtue of Responsibility. Our curriculum 252 basics defines responsibility as showing that you can be trusted with what is expected of you.
Responsibility is an interesting thing. We so want it as kids trying to make our way through life. As adults, we shun it as the necessity that removes the fun from life. Responsibility is what keeps me from staying up to 4:00 am watching Tv, and playing ESPN MLB 2005 on the PS2 (yes, I still have a PS2, and have not upgraded since 2004), because I have to at work the next morning. Yet, responsibility is also the fact that I get to minister to the needs of children, which is what I believe God has designed me to do.
As we learn about responsibility, we’ll be asking ourselves and each other these questions:
What in the world are you doing to take care of what God made?
What in the world are you doing to use what God gave you?
What in the world are you doing to show others God’s goodness?
What in the world are you doing to encourage others with your words?
So, what answers do you have for these questions?
